Jose Grillo is a graduate of the Academia de Artes Plasticas de la Habana "San Alejandro" (San Alejandro School of Art and Architecture) in 1984.

In 1990, he graduated from the University of Havana with a degree in Art History, where he taught as a Professor of Art from 1980 – 1991. In 1991 he decided to further his dream and paint fulltime.

Jose Grillo’s work encompasses sculpture, drawings as well as paintings with a particular bent of experimentation, combining rational visual process and intuitive color coordination, while focusing on balancing his figurative statements. His versatile style and visual context using his chosen media of Oil and Wax on Canvas, is a particular favorite amoung young and old collectors alike.
